Gas Mask is a dish record full of usual flavors + that special something Apollo Brown seems to bring to every project. If you’ve listened to more of his stuff than I have, you might even have some idea of what the secret spice/ingredient is. I don’t pretend to know...I might even prefer not to know. The mystery is part of the appeal. He’s doing something you know (the beats consistently remind you of what you were listening to when Hip Hop meant
head nodding, not dancing) yet it still feels current.
